Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School To Hold Dedication Ceremony
Legendary civil rights activist and attorney expected to attend ceremony, April 12
DALLAS—Dallas ISD will hold a dedication ceremony at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 12, for the Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School, 7817 Military Parkway. The school’s legendary namesake is expected to attend the ceremony which was previously postponed due to health reasons.
The honoree will join Dallas ISD Trustee Bernadette Nutall, City of Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, Dallas ISD Chief of School Leadership Sylvia Reyna, as well as other district officials, students and staff for the celebration.
Student performances are expected from the Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School Ensemble and the school’s cheer squad. The Urban Park Elementary School Boy Scout Pack 757 will conduct the flag presentation.
The school opened in the fall of 2012 and currently serves more than 600 students in prekindergarten through 5th grade. The two-story, 98,000 sq. ft. building is part of the 2008 Bond program.
Adelfa Botello Callejo is a well-known attorney and civil rights activist who has impacted the lives of countless Dallas Hispanic residents through her tireless efforts to eliminate racial barriers and improve equality in education.
