Bond projects win architecture awards
Two of the District’s 2008 Bond Projects have been honored regionally and locally. The Engineering News-Record (ENR) Texas and Louisiana awarded Satterfield & Pontikes Construction Inc. with the 2014 Best Projects Competition Award for their work on Billy Earl Dade Middle School. An independent jury of four judges selected Billy Earl Dade Middle School from among more than 80 entries. The project will now advance to the national competition to be considered for one of ENR’s “Best of the Best” Awards.
In addition, Perkins+Will Architecture received the 2014 Built Design Award by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Dallas for their design work on Zan Wesley Holmes Jr. Middle School. The Built Design Award is the highest recognition of works that exemplify excellence in built projects by Dallas architects.
“Construction Services believes that good design and quality construction contribute to student success and enrich the quality of life of the neighborhoods where they are situated,” said Ed Levine, DISD Construction Services Executive Director. “By creating spaces that are inspiring, comfortable and intellectually stimulating, teachers teach more effectively and student learning is enhanced. The 2008 Bond Program has garnered a number of design and construction awards for the District in our effort to reach these goals.
